Bible Study
1) The Orthodox Life Study Group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30-4:00 in the Conference Room. Please remember five points necessary for studying scripture. First is faith: a commitment, resolve and acceptance of Christ into our life. Second is prayer: to have our life be in communion with God. This kind of relationship makes our hearts and minds receptive to God’s written word. Next is study: which helps us under-stand the truth in the scriptures. Fourth is application: the gospel is not a Gospel unless you live it. Finally is witness: sharing the Good News not only intellectually but spiritually as well. Please feel free to join us! (Rev. Fr. Christopher P. Foustoukos)
2) A second Bible study is offered on Wednesdays 10 am and 7 pm. This study takes place in the conference room. We are going through the four Gospels The Gospel of St. Mark, of St. Mathew, of St. Luke and of St. John the Evangelists in chronological order making one story out of the four. Interpretation is based on Orthodox sources such as St. John Chrisostom (4th Century) and other supportive texts in the context of the entire Bible. (Rev. Fr. Anthony S. Tandilyan)
3) We also are offering a third study for all who have not attended Bible Study in a structured way before. We will be studying St. Mark’s Gospel drawing parallels with the other two synoptic evangelists St. Mathew and St. Luke as well as St. John’s Gospel. This study will be on Thursdays at 7 pm starting October 8. The interpretation of this study is also based on Orthodox sources such as St. John Chrisostom (4th Century) and other supportive texts in the context of the entire Bible. (Rev. Fr. Anthony S. Tandilyan)
