Everyone Can Be Great by Fr Chris
As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1Peter 4:10)
Many people sit on the sidelines of life even though our world, and our parish, is in great need of their services, while others stand up and offer their talents. Our world is brighter because of these individuals who step up to serve.
Some folks feel they need special qualifications to serve or help others. The truth is that a caring heart, passion to help and a willing spirit to serve are all it takes to make a difference both in our parish and in the world.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college education to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
Everybody can get involved and make a difference and there are many ways to do so. Right in the midst of our community there are people in need of your love, kindness, generosity and assistance. If you are not sure how to best serve, pray to our Lord to help you discern how you might serve others as Christ serves you!
Some one once said, “availability is more important than ability.” When you serve, you can do great things with your love. In the process of serving, you will discover what thousands upon thousands have: It’s better to give than to receive.
